Yoga Therapy
WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?
Yoga Therapy is an accredited profession regulated and overseen by the organization, International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT). Yoga Therapy is a somatic one-on-one approach to healing, utilizing the specific application of yogic tools to address an individual’s physical, mental, and emotional needs. It combines philosophy and movements from yoga as well as stillness and inquiry from meditation. Yoga Therapy is often used as a tool to reconnect with the body after times of disconnection and move through traumas that have been stored within.
Yoga Therapy can be a very relaxing and grounding experience. Whether new to yoga or an experienced yogi, Yoga Therapy can be customized to each individual. The sessions are always client-led, meaning we will find a way to ensure the client feels fully supported and safe through their entire experience. Movement-based practices often bring emotions to the surface. Although clients are free to share their experiences in session, they are also encouraged to process them with a mental health therapist. Thus, we often work hand-in-hand with mental health providers in order to treat the whole person.
