Holly Swick is a Certified Perinatal Mental Health Professional, Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness Practitioner, therapeutic perinatal yoga teacher, and is in her beginning year of Somatic Experiencing® training—a body-oriented model for healing trauma. She has also completed advanced training in grief and loss, yoga therapy, mindful self-compassion, and reiki energy healing. Holly specializes in grief and trauma while building a family including pregnancy and infant loss, termination for medical reasons, fertility challenges, NICU, birth trauma, and pregnancy after loss.
Holly holds a Master’s Degree in Chemistry, however, shortly after graduation was drawn and inspired to work in the field of mental health. Holly worked for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and later, a UK-based mental health charity. Her 5-year mental health nonprofit career was devoted to developing and implementing mental health awareness programs for youth.
It was also during this time that Holly began a mindfulness and self-compassion practice. When she later experienced difficulty conceiving and was diagnosed with unexplained infertility, Holly’s personal practice helped her survive her grief by bringing compassionate presence to her pain. Mindfulness also helped her notice the pockets of calm, comfort and joy that still existed in her life without the child she longed for.
Shortly after becoming a parent through IVF, including a traumatic postpartum experience, Holly began her therapeutic yoga teacher training. From the beginning, she knew she wanted to support people who’ve experienced grief and trauma along their family-building journey using a trauma-informed, mind, body, and heart approach.
Holly loves to travel and spent 5 years living in England and eating her way through Europe with her husband. She also loves slow mornings, curling up with a good non-fiction book, listening to music while cooking, hiking through forests, and watching the sun come up along the live oak trees behind her house. Currently, Holly lives in San Antonio, Texas, offering virtual support for Chapters & Seasons clients.
